Abstract

This study illustrates the use of a teacher directed peer-confrontation system to decrease the inappropriate verbalizations of a targeted student and two non-targeted peers. A reversal design was employed. Results show that the peer-confrontation system is a viable and effective method for decreasing the inappropriate behaviors of the targeted student. Additionally, the vicarious effects of the treatment on the non-targeted peers were noted. Reasons for the effectiveness of this technique are discussed.
