1. Melissa Abelev is a PhD candidate at Tulane University. Prior to matriculating at Tulane, she earned a master's degree in public policy from Johns Hopkins University. Her research focuses on poverty, economic inequality, and U.S. food and nutrition policy.
2. M. Bess Vincent is a PhD candidate in the Department of Sociology at Tulane University. She received her master's degree in sociology in 2004. Her dissertation will examine the causes and correlates of substance use and misuse in adult populations. She has published articles in Deviant Behavior and Technology in Society.
3. Timothy J. Haney is a PhD candidate in sociology at the University of Oregon, Eugene. His research agenda and publications focus on “neighborhood effects,” or the influence of residential location and neighborhood characteristics on individual outcomes, as well as the social and demographic transformation of post-Katrina New Orleans.
