Abstract
Purpose of the study is to develop a valid and reliable instrument to measure the level of teachers’ adaptation to curriculum change. To this end, an item pool was prepared based on previous research on educational (curriculum) change and written feedbacks obtained from teachers. A trial form including 47 items was created from the item pool which was analyzed by experts in terms of content, clarity and assessment. Explanatory factor analysis was carried out to identify the factor structure of the scale with data collected from 253 teachers through the trial form. A 29-item scale with seven factors was obtained after explanatory factor analysis. The scale explained 68.68% of total variance and had the dimensions of cooperation, change management, effect of change, concerns about change, information seeking, feedback and change awareness. Confirmatory factor analysis conducted with the data obtained from 303 teachers confirmed the seven-factor structure of the scale (X2/sd=2.11, RMSEA=.06, SRMR=.06, GFI=.85, AGFI=.82, CFI=.92, NFI=.87, NNFI[TLI]=.91). Cronbach Alpha coefficient of the scale administered to two different samples was found .84 and .86. The study concluded that Adaptation to Curriculum Change Scale for Teachers was a valid and reliable instrument to determine the level of teachers’ adaptation to curriculum change.
