Abstract

A new class of Ca5Ga6O14:Tb3+ mechanoluminescent phosphors with trap-independent, self-recoverable mechanoluminescence and a low mechanical stimulus threshold are reported, whose properties originate from piezoelectricity of the host with giant piezoelectric coefficients.
