Abstract
This article examined the impact of maltreatment characteristics on academic functioning in a sample of school-age maltreated children. Results revealed several differences among three types of maltreatment subgroups (physical abuse, neglect, and sexual abuse) on characteristics of maltreatment experience. Few maltreatment characteristics were significantly related to measures of academic functioning, but the findings suggest that the effects of maltreatment characteristics should be examined separately for different types of maltreatment.
