Abstract

Several new neuroprosthetic systems provide sensation via direct nerve stimulation, constituting an important step forward in achieving sensory-motor integration and embodiment of bionic limbs (Tan et al . and Ortiz-Catalan et al ., this issue; Raspopovic et al ., 5 Feb 2014 issue, 222ra19).
