Abstract
The vibrational frequency of Al35Cl in solid neon and argon has been measured to be 470 cm-1 and 455 cm-1. The 35Cl/37Cl isotopic splitting is 5.4 ± 0.2 cm-1 in argon matrix. The IR absorption of AlBr has been recorded in neon, argon and nitrogen matrices (370, 357, 349 cm-1). In solid argon the frequency shift due to 81Br/79Br isotopes could be resolved (0.95 ± 0.2 cm-1). The fundamental v3 of monomeric AlBr3 is observed at 508.4 cm-1 in an argon matrix.
