Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui unsur-unsur berpikir kreatif matematis di dalam aktivitas membatik masyarakat Pelayangan Jambi Kota Seberang; untuk mengetahui unsur- unsur berpikir kritis matematis di dalam aktivitas membatik masyarakat Pelayangan Jambi Kota Seberang; dan untuk mengetahui implikasi hasil penelitian ini terhadap pembelajaran matematika. Data penelitian diperoleh dari observasi, wawancara dengan pengrajin batik, dan wawancara dengan guru matematika. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa berbagai kegiatan proses membatik masyarakat Pelayangan mempunyai nilai etnomatematika yang ditemukan dalam aspek-aspek etnomatematika seperti aspek membilang, mengukur, penentuan letak, merancang dan menjelaskan. Bentuk aktivitas membatik masyarakat Pelayangan yang bernuansa matematika seperti konsep perbandingan, kekongruenan, konsep luas bidang datar, konsep refleksi, translasi dan rotasi dapat dipraktikkan dan dikembangkan dalam pembelajaran matematika di Sekolah Menengah Pertama (SMP) pada kurikulum 2013. Penelitian ini menghasilkan suatu sintaks pembelajaran matematika dengan pendekatan etnomatematika yang diadopsi dari kegiatan membatik yang digunakan di Madrasah Tsanawiyah Negeri Olak Kemang Jambi Kota Seberang. Kata kunci: proses membatik, etnomatematika, pembelajaran matematika This study aims to know the elements of mathematical creative thinking contained in batik activity of Pelayangan Jambi Kota Seberang; to know the elements of critical thinking mathematically contained in batik activity of Pelayangan Jambi Kota Seberang; and to know the implication of the result of this study to mathematics learning. Research data was obtained from observation, interviews with batik craftsmen, and interviews with math teachers. The results showed that various activities of batik process of Pelayangan people have ethnomathematics value found in aspects of ethnomathematics such as aspects of counting, measuring, determining the location, designing and explaining. The batik activities of the community displaying mathematical concepts such as comparison, congruence, the broad concept of flat field, the concept of translation, rotation and reflection can be practiced and developed in learning the mathematics of Junior High School in the 2013 curriculum. This research produces a syntax of mathematics learning by using the ethnomatematic approach which is adapted from batik activities used in Madrasah Tsanawiyah Negeri Olak Kemang Jambi Kota Seberang.
