Abstract
One new species of Volvariella (V. orientalis) is described based on materials collected from Vietnam. The species is characterized by large, stout basidiocarps with pilose-squamulose pileus, saccate volva, basidiospores 7.5–8.5 × 5.0–6.0 µm, and mucronate cheilocystidia. The macro- and microscopic descriptions with discussion on similar taxa are given, and their taxonomic position is supported by phylogenetic analyses based on nrITS and nrLSU regions.
