Abstract
One new species of Volvariella (V. lanata) is described based on a combination of morphological and molecular evidence. The species is characterized by rather large basidiomata with grey-brown, fibrillose to pubescent pileus, pubescent stipe and brownish trilobate volva, cheilocystidia with long apical appendages, utriform or fusiform pleurocystidia, and basidiospores 5.9–7.4 × 3.7–5.0 µm. Sequences of nrITS and nrLSU of the studied specimens were generated, and the phylogenetic analyses were performed with Maximum likelihood and Bayesian inference methods for nrITS+nrLSU dataset. The analyses showed that the new species is clustered within the genus Volvariella, forming a distinct phylogenetic lineage with V. krizii as its sister taxon.
