Abstract
In vitro susceptibility of Borrelia buccalis, Borrelia vincentii, Treponema microdentium, Treponema pallidum, and Treponema reiterii to metronidazole, was ascertained by a tube susceptibility technique. The data obtained confirm and extend the conclusion of previous investigators that under in vitro conditions metronidazole will immobilize spirochetes. It appears that metronidazole will probably be an efficacious agent for the treatment of fusospirochetal infections.
