Abstract

This article reports findings from a survey of state directors of special education that focused on current practices in providing services to individuals with autism. Results indicated that states vary greatly in the ways they define, assess, and provide training and technical assistance for those working with pupils with autism. Recommendations based on the literature and from the results of this study are provided.
