The European Network of Health Promoting Schools: introduction- the UK project

Abstract

The notion of the health promoting school is fairly recent, although the school has been seen as an ideal setting for improving the health of young people for many years. The European Network of Health Promoting Schools (ENHPS) project began in 1992 and the UK joined in 1993. Each country in the UK is undertaking its own investigations into the ways that schools can contribute to the health promotion of the whole school community.
