Lessons for Collaboration between Educational Agencies

Abstract

Wu addresses the topic of school-univer sity collaboration with particular focus on the misconception that collaboration occurs naturally. Unless deliberate effort is expended, successful collaboration will not occur. The author uses a model oftrade between Nepal and Tibet to iden tify the elements of successful collabora tion. To bring theory into alignment with reality, examples are presented from Florida's twelve-year involverrtent in Teacher Education Centers, where uni versities and school districts have col laborated to produce effective staff de velopment programs.
