Abstract

The insulation around a sectional manikin in the nude and clothed condition was determined at various wind speeds. Above an air flow of 2 m/sec the percentage contribution to the total heat transfer from each of the six sections of the nude manikin was approximately constant. Adding clothing to the nude manikin provided a greater relative contribu tion to the total insulation at the higher air flows than at the lower. The total convective coefficient curve in a laminar air flow for the nude manikin proved to be within 15% of two earlier, independent curves for a standing human form.
