Abstract
Yarn tension variation on the knitting needle is investigated using simulated knitting conditions with a newly developed test rig. Among the several conditions observed in the testing situation are needle gauge and yarn feeding angle to the knitting points affected by yarn tension variation. However, yarn feeding speed does not show any significant influence on yarn tension variation. From the analysis, we conclude that yarn tension should be controlled in the best knitting conditions to reduce processing faults and to manufacture good quality knitted fabrics.
