Abstract
The remanent curvature after a bending strain has been imposed is usually greater for a yarn than for a single filament taken from the yarn. Assuming that the differences originate with filament-filament frictional forces, this article derives quantitative estimates of these effects, using supporting experimental data. The yarn deficiency angle Δβ, is found to be proportional to the fiber-fiber friction coefficient μ and inversely proportional to the fiber modulus E.
