The Effect of Top-Roller Weighting, Apron Spacing, and Top-Roller Setting Upon Yarn Quality

Abstract

Optimum ringframe processing conditions for getting the best yam quality are examined in this work. The studies show that for every mixing there exists an optimum apron spacing at which imperfection count and irregularity reach a minimum and the optimum is at a lower level with increase of top-roller load. In medium and coarse mixings, yarn regularity can be improved by closing down the apron spacing and by either increasing the top roller load or by reducing the roving twist. Front top-roller setting has a critical effect on regularity in medium mixings; widening the setting by 3 mm significantly increases the irregularity of material. Apron spacing and top-roller settings have less effect on regu larity in fine mixings.
