Abstract

As students with learning disabilities are currently the fastest growing segment of college students with disabilities, there is a significant need for trained personnel to develop, implement, and evaluate college programs for them. Many postsecondary institutions are presently in the process of developing such programs, creating the need for an increased number of people trained both to coordinate these programs and to provide direct services to the learning disabled student. This paper will describe the critical need for training efforts in this area and will stress the importance of input from special education faculty in meeting research, technical assistance, and personnel preparation needs.
