Abstract
This study analyzed relationships between WAIS and achievement scores of 207 adult learners who studied nine topics using pro gramed materials. Zero- and first-order correlations were com puted between each of 10 learning topic scores and each of 17 WAIS scores. All but one of the correlations were statistically significant. The correlation between a composite learning topic score and the WAIS full-scaled score was .78. Correlations be tween the WAIS and topic scores ranged from .53 to .70 indicat ing that intelligence is highly correlated with certain learning abilities. Adult intelligence tests can be used to diagnose learner ability, to facilitate program design, as a control variable for program evaluation studies, for validation of achievement tests, and as control variables for learning research.
