Abstract
A comparative examination of the concept of damage in creep and in the brittle-elastic range is given. Differences between these two classes of problems are dis cussed. It is pointed out, in particular, that damage models in the brittle-elastic range should be compatible with the existing knowledge of the effective elastic properties.
