Abstract
Financial and economic implications of processing employee grievances are discussed. Several factors that cause union stewards in the public sector to file grievances are examined. Regression results suggest that while perceived management accommodation, perceived constituent competition, and informal dispute resolution contribute to the variance in grievance rates, clarity of contract langugage does not.
