Abstract
Problems teachers encounter with students receiving medication were determined from 1,110 teacher questionnaires obtained from two slate-wide surveys. The results indicated that teachers (a) need more information about medication and (b) are often excluded from meaningful involvement in the treatment process. Teachers thought that medication impaired school performance in some cases. The data also showed the problems associated with the treatment of behavior disorders to be similar to the problems reported for students receiving medication for seizures. However, teachers were more apt to disagree with treatment-related decisions in the case of the former. Suggestions for remedying some problems are discussed.
