Abstract
Studies of validation of domain-referenced tests (DRT) focus almost exclusively on content validation, while eminent researchers caution against neglecting construct validity. This paper discusses issues re lated to construct validation and reports the validation results for a DRT. Specifically, this study evaluates the substantive construct validity of DRT items. Items for objectives in clinical dietetics were administered to a national sample of students. An index of item response homogeneity was used as an indicator of substantive construct validity. Results suggest evidence for that type of validity.
