Tom Humphries is assistant professor in the Department of Paediatrics and adjunct professor in the Department of Instruction and Special Education of the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), University of Toronto. He also is director of the Child Development Clinic in the Division of Neurology of the Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto. His research interests include treatment efficacy associated with learning disabilities and concomitant language and attention problems.

2. Janet Bone is a psychometrist in the Department of Psychology of the Durham Board of Education, Ontario, Canada. Her interests include psychodynamic assessment and play therapy. Abstract

Beyond predetermined Performance Scale differences, a group of 24 children with learning disabilities having a lower Verbal, higher Performance IQ profile on the WISC-R and 33 slow learners were not found to be otherwise distinguished by their individual WISC-R subtest scores or subtest scatter. The majority of children were males, white, of lower to middle socioeconomic status and ranged in age from 6 to 13 years.
