Abstract
The idea that there is a causal relationship between visual, or visual-perceptual processes and learning disabilities is one of the oldest and most controversial in our field. Even in the short history of the Topical Review series, we have had several papers that have taken strong stands on either side of this question. This month's Topical Review addresses questions about the efficacy of visual training directly. It is important not only because it presents a balanced and critical review of research that is not widely available, but also because it points out the diversity of programs and procedures that are often referred to as “visual training.”—JKT
