Abstract
In this study, the mechanical properties and failure behavior of multilayer knitted carbon-fiber-reinforced polyamide 12 were investigated. In the first part, the influence of the number of stacked knit layers in composites containing 2 to 8 knit double layers were tested in the wale direction. It was found that the thickness correlated linearly with the number of knit double layers in the composite. In the second part, the angle dependence of tensile strength, Young's modulus, and failure behavior were investigated at 00, 30°, 45°, 60°, and 90° in accordance to the wale direction.
