Abstract
In this article, the current status of the teaching experience requirement for counselors is pre sented ; opposing arguments on the requirement are examined; research evidence on the effects of teaching experience on counselor perform ance is reviewed; and proposals are suggested for the employment and education of counselors without prior teaching experience.
