Abstract
This paper addresses the issue of career guidance with the unemployed, noting the limited literature in existence. It includes a review of overseas and Australian research, and policy and practice documents. Various models of case management are presented, and the real or potential place for career guidance in these models is discussed. The paper argues for the inclusion of career guidance in interventions with the long-term unemployed, while acknowledging concerns and issues with this strategy. CONCLUSION
