Abstract
Introduces the models that are being used by business professionals and the software industry to understand and predict the effects of widespread use of computerized communication networks, such as the Internet, for electronic commerce. The models are drawn from those of business strategy, marketing and logistics, rather than from information management. Attempts to promote a deeper understanding of these business models among information professionals. Tries also to stimulate them to apply their understanding of the models in Three ways: to understand better proposals for information related change in their organizations; to evaluate better the information systems offered by software houses based on these models; and to identify opportunities for new information businesses which may emerge from business changes associated with electronic commerce.
