Abstract
This article reviews the literature on stress at work in order to highlight the themes which predominate, the alternative ways of examining and exploring the problem, and the strategies and programmes which have been proposed to contend with the phenomenon. Most importantly, it aims to alert occupational therapists to the problem and to enhance their sense of purpose in combating it.
