Body Image and Sports Participation of the Intellectual Elite

Abstract

Body image, either as an independent phenomenon or in relation to participation in sports or in fitness programs, has become a much discussed topic. The present study investigates the body image and sports participation of the American intellectual elite. The evidence is drawn from the "personals" of the New York Review. The data are also compared to those from the "personals" of Die Zeit.
