Abstract
This study examines the relationship between employee-initiated lateral transfer and the level of absenteeism. We rely here on an investigation of two cohorts over a 4-year period in separate organizations (n = 587, n = 387). The results provide strong support that there are gross differences in observed absence rates for both organizations depending on employee transfer behavior.
