Abstract
This study considers some social dimensions of children's television viewing. Review of the literature shows a paucity of data on the subject and a tendency to focus research attention on television rather than children. This study is grounded on symbolic interactionist principles and utilizes naturalistic observation in data collection. Specimens of viewing behavior are offered and an argument for sociologically grounded investigation is made.
