1. The AEDC altitude testing capabilities include simulation of atmospheric supercooled water icing conditions. Tests have been conducted on one inlet of a dual-inlet nacelle of the 8-18 aircraft. The inlet was tested in the ETF propulsion development test cell J-2 in the free-jet mode. A 65-in. diam free-jet nozzle was installed to direct the simulated icing conditions to the inlet.
