Abstract
The sub-lethal effect of the two pesticides phosalone and carbaryl on the acetylcholinesterase enzyme in Scylla serrata was studied using static renewal toxicity bioassay over a period of 5 days. Both phosalone and carbaryl induced inhibition in acetylcholinesterase activity and inhibition increased with increasing concentrations of pesticides. Although both the insecticides showed a decline tendency in percentage of inhibition at the end of 120 h, the recovery of AChE activity was not more in carbaryl treatment than the phosalone treatments
