Wavelets From Filter Banks

Abstract

Abstract These notes are an excerpt from the first draft of a new book. The book will begin much earlier in the theory of filters; the notes are from chapter 6! Examples and figures (but not exercises) will be included — those are essential to a clear exposition. We hope that this part of a larger whole — the part where wavelets emerge, bringing with them the crucial properties of the filters — will be helpful to the reader.
