Abstract
The operation of lifts is highly complicated and dynamic. Researchers have been searching for minimum and key parameters to describe and then assess the realtime performance of a lift system. One single parameter was proposed to describe the comfort level of a lift car. For traf” c performance, statistical formulae for estimating the round trip time, interval, handling capacity, average waiting time and average journey time were proposed to describe the overall traf” c performance of a lift system. In this paper, the actual techniques, methods and procedures to arrive at two key parameters, namely the average journey time which is equal to the sum of average waiting time and average travel time, and the average electrical power per passenger, are proposed and discussed in detail. The application of these two parameters to a hall-call-allocation system, Miconic-10 of Schindler, in Hong Kong was carried out and discussed.
