Abstract
The pulse current (PC) charging has less concentration over-potential, internal resistance, and side-reactions compared to those of constant current (CC) charging. In this study, the charging and discharging capacities of LiMn2O4 battery were investigated using the battery performance tester by pulse current charge. The average of C-rate is introduced to indicate the effects of the three variables, pulse-on time, pulse-off time, and the applied C-rate. From the experimental results, it can be found that pulse charging is helpful to reduce capacity loss and gives the batteries higher discharge capacity. The optimal operating conditions can be represented by the average of C-rate, and also derived from the percentage of capacity loss.
