Time Constants of Radiosonde Thermistors

Abstract

Measurements of thermal time constants of radiosonde thermistors were made. Details of the experimental technique are presented whereby time constants were determined at various air speeds up to 2700 ft/min. Results are presented graphically to show the effect of time constant versus air speed with pressure and the corresponding average ambient temperature as encountered in the “average” atmosphere as parameters.
