Abstract

G protein βγ subunits function noncanonically at the Golgi to regulate the fission of plasma membrane-destined transport vesicles. Depletion and inhibition of Gβγ were used to demonstrate a new role for Gβγ in regulating fragmentation of the Golgi as cells enter mitosis and in regulating proper progression through G2/M.
