Abstract

During meiosis, genetic material between each pair of chromosomes is accurately exchanged via homologous recombination (HR). Failures during HR can result in infertility or aneuploidy. From an analysis of mutant mice, it was determined that polo-like kinase 1 helps regulate recombination and changes in chromosome structure during meiosis.
