Abstract

Atherosclerosis, or hardening of the arteries, is a leading cause of congestive heart failure, heart attack, and stroke in humans. Mounting evidence, in the literature and from our lab, points to the regular involvement of bacteria within arterial plaque deposits in patients with advanced atherosclerosis.
