Abstract
Median longitudinal sections of germ tube apices of
Mucor rouxii
revealed the presence of a single, roughly hemispherical, electron-dense organelle, in intimate contact with the apical cell wall. Conceivably, this “apical corpuscle” may be responsible for the emission of the germ tube and its continued apical growth.
