Abstract

The plagiarism term, which is one of the types of ethical violations and also widespread among the students, is described in General Turkish Dictionary of Turkish Language Institution as writing some chapters or sentences from any other works without referring to them, or claiming that those ideas are belong to himself or herself. There are many situations that create plagiarism. There are different types of plagiarism, and different ways in which a person may plagiarize. Researches towards students' plagiarism in literature have always been performed based on the students' perceptions. However, the researches on the plagiarism perceptions of the academicians are rather low. This study aims to investigate the perceptions and attitudes of the academicians who give post-graduate lectures in the field of accounting in various universities in Turkey, against the students' plagiarism. This study plays a significant role emphasising on the perception and attitude of the academicians who give post-graduate lectures in the field of accounting submitting possible solutions for struggling with plagiarism, and avoiding the students from plagiarism. In this study, the questionnaire method was used as a data collection tool. The data obtained through the study were analysed by means of the SPSS pocket program, and the results were interpretated.
