Abstract

This study aims to determine the transformational leadership perceptions and organizational commitment levels of physical education teachers working in different institutions affiliated to the Ministry of National Education in Aydın, examine the relationship between the two variables, and explain whether transformational leadership perceptions predict their organizational commitment levels. This study is descriptive in the relational survey model. The research universe consists of physical education teachers working in institutions affiliated with the Ministry of National Education in Aydın. A random sampling method was used to determine the study sample. The sample of the study consists of 328 physical education teachers, 167 (50.9%) male and 161 (49.1%) female, working in different institutions in Aydın. As data collection tools were used "Transformational Leadership Scale" and "Organizational Commitment Scale". Research data were analyzed using SPSS 25.00 statistical package program. Descriptive statistics, correlation and statistical regression techniques were used in the analysis of the data. According to the research findings, the transformational leadership perceptions and organizational commitment levels of physical education teachers were at moderate levels according to the average score they got from the scales. It has been determined that there is a moderately positive relationship between the transformational leadership perceptions of physical education teachers and their organizational commitment levels and that transformational leadership is an essential predictor of organizational commitment. As a result, it can be said that the transformational leadership perceptions of physical education teachers and their commitment to the institutions they work at are at reasonable levels, and as the transformational leadership levels of the teachers' increase, their level of commitment to the institution they work will also increase.
