Does an ENT Introductory Course Improve Junior Doctors' Confidence in Managing ENT Emergencies?

Abstract

The implementation of the European Working Time Regulations has resulted in significant changes in working patterns in order to provide an emergency service in ear, nose and throat surgery (ENT). In contrast to many surgical specialties, a large proportion of emergency ENT patients can undergo their definitive treatment in a ward-based setting. These skills were previously acquired as targeted on-the-job training during the first few weeks of the attachment.
