Good to eat, good to think: food, culture and biodiversity in Cotacachi.

Abstract

This chapter presents the results of anthropological research on food, culture, and biodiversity among indigenous communities in Cotacachi, Ecuador. The study examines: the principal food production and consumption activities and practices in Cotacachi; the local perceptions and classifications of food; and the effects of recent transformations in the local food system on local identities and social relationships.
