AbstractThis chapter examines live and artificial baits for control of tsetse flies. Basic questions in bait development are answered. Basic aspects of host-oriented behaviour are elucidated to better understand the opportunities for bait development. Odour attractants and repellents are identified. Traps and targets are evaluated. Chemosterilants are considered as substitute for insecticides. Bait deployment and management, adoption of new bait techniques, recommendations, as well as future research and development are also discussed.
