The practice and politics of tourism and land management.

Abstract

This paper deals with the influence of tourism in natural areas on land managers in those areas. Two trends that are affecting the interactions between nature tourism and land managers are highlighted: (1) the growth of the adventure-tourism sector; and (2) amenity migration. The pressure from tourism around the borders of conservation areas is then examined.
